We’re looking for a full-time, staff Sr. Manager, Contracts & Commercial Counsel to join our Day & Zimmermann team remotely.
As the Sr. Manager, Contracts & Commercial Counsel, here’s the work you’ll do:
Key partner to M&C business development organization and operations leadership. Responsible for mitigating business and legal risks by reviewing and modifying clients’ contract documents. Responsible for ensuring compliance with company’s risk management policies. Responsible for training and process improvements regarding contract review and negotiation.

Analyze client construction contract documents and modify as appropriate to ensure adherence to company’s corporate risk policy and to address operational risks and insurance requirements. Engage internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout organization for assessment and feedback on proposed contract terms, incorporating proposed modifications when necessary.
Negotiate contract terms with clients, drafting changes and engaging with internal stakeholders.
Advise internal stakeholders on risks where we are unable to negotiate terms consistent with company’s corporate risk policy, drafting any deviation approval requests for submission to senior leadership
Responsible for training and education of business development and operations regarding company’s corporate risk policy and negotiation strategies. Initiating and implementing process improvements.
Support Supply Chain organization by advising on subcontract terms and corporate vendor agreements.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

Experience negotiating contracts based on US law; strong negotiation and customer service skills.
Knowledge of U.S. contract law, including familiarity with construction contracts and real estate leases. Federal contracting experience a plus.
Experience with Microsoft office programs, including Sharepoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word programs.
Strong writing and verbal communication skills (in English), strong multi-tasking skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people, often in stressful and fast-paced situations, ability to influence others, and strong interpersonal skills and political acumen.
Ability to read, write and comprehend detailed, complex contractual documents.

And if you have these qualifications:

Minimum 3 years negotiating contracts
Experience negotiating construction contracts preferred
