Drive Line / Hydraulic Hose Assembly Technician
Position Summary
Assess driveline assemblies for needed repair. Fabricate, assemble and balance customers’ driveshafts in accordance with company procedures and standards. Identify hydraulic hose assemblies and build to required specifications. Organize and reorganization of shops inventory and shop design.
Cook Brothers Truck Parts Driveline Services is seeking a technician based in our Rochester location. No Specific Driveshaft/Hydraulic Hose fabrication experience is necessary. We will train you on the specific processes and procedures. The most successful candidates will have an automotive, equipment or truck service mechanic background, whether professionally or personally. Experience in a warehouse setting with a propensity to organization and inventory control is a plus.
This position while based in our Rochester Location will require some travel to our other locations in New York and Pennsylvania on a as needed basis for special projects and shop coverage at the direction of the Division Manager.

Essential Tasks
1. Inspection and evaluation of driveline components requesting repair.
2. Disassembly of driveshafts to remove identified worn or damaged components using a basic cut off lathe and various hand tools.
3. Cleaning, preparation and further evaluation of components to determine viability for use, using various chemical and mechanical processes.
4. Fabrication of driveshafts using new and refurbished components utilizing manual and hydraulic press equipment.
5. Tacking and finish MIG welding of components into an assembled unit.
6. Dynamic balancing of completed driveshaft assembly.
7. Clean and maintain shop, tools, equipment, and required component inventory to ensure clean and efficient shop operation.
8. Master hydraulic hose and fitting identification and assembly.
9. Resurfacing of engine flywheels to spec using a surface grinder.
10. Strictly adhere to approved company safety policies and procedures.
11. Keep abreast of new and evolving products and repair techniques.
12. Coordinate with management regarding on-going training.
13. Assist in various day to day branch operations when driveline work is completed, per Branch Manager.
Preferred Skills
No Specific driveshaft fabrication experience is required. We will fully train the right candidate on our specific procedures and the use of the specialized equipment used to repair and fabricate driveshafts.
1. Mechanically inclined, with knowledge of the safe and proper use of hand, pneumatic and electric tools.
2. Basic math skills and ability to use various measuring devices (dial caliper, tape measure level).
3. Comfortable being around and using machinery and equipment.
4. Basic MIG welding skills a plus, but not required.
5. Must have high attention to detail, be capable of precision work and take pride in the finished product.
6. Basic computer skills.
7. Abide by company policy regarding cash and credit accounts.
Physical Demands
Handling of normal stock will include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 100 lbs.
