We’re looking to add an Auto Body Technician to add our team!
We’re a family owned and operated Body Shop since 2003. Our team has over 60 years of combined experience in the fields of auto body repair, vehicle inspection, writing estimates, automotive claims and parts research.
We’re a busy shop that primarily does insurance work, so the successful candidate must be able to read estimates, be a team player and take pride in their work. We want our customers to feel like they’re not just another number. We pride ourselves in providing personalized customer service and a quick turnaround to make their repair experience as smooth and painless as possible.
We’re looking for an Auto Body Technician that is experienced in major collision repairs, as well as experienced with frame and mechanical repairs, and who has their own tools.
Responsibilities:

Complete dis-assembly of vehicles to assist Service Advisors in assessing damage to prepare a 100% Repair Plan.
Comply with all 5 Star Collision’s safety rules, guidelines and standards.
Examine damaged vehicles and efficiently plan the repair process.
Communicate and work with others on vehicle repair status.
Perform quality repairs while keeping on-time status in mind.
Plan work procedure: follow work order for all operations listed.
Make decisions on repair vs. replace considering safety, cost and cycle time.
Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle and fenders.
Reassemble after the parts are painted; ensuring all gaps and fills are to industry standards.
Participate in all required safety meetings.
Mend damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensuring all gaps and fits are to industry standards.
Fill depressions with body filler.
Store parts on carts or cover to eliminate potential damage.
Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.)
Direct the work of an apprentice in the performance of tasks when needed, i.e., unusual problems or questions and explain the procedures.
Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to check for compliance with safety and quality standards.
Wash and prepare vehicles for customer return.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years experience in a shop.
Ability to use a frame machine.
Certification in body repair preferred.
Knowledge of vehicle repair processes by manufacturer.
I-CAR welding certified preferred.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Skill in analyzing and interpreting measuring data.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with others.
Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates and work orders.
Ability to multitask and adapt easily to a fast-paced environment.
Maintain a well-groomed appearance.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time during the repair of a vehicle.
Must be able to walk, sit, bend, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach or crawl frequently.
Must be able to use hands efficiently in handling vehicle parts.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

The successful candidate must be familiar with an Auto Body working environment, and understand that he/she may be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and/or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet or humid conditions. There are Moderate noise levels in this working environment.
Compensation: $23+ per flag hour depending on experience | Flat rate (commission) | Averages to $80-$120K a year depending on efficiency
Employment Type: Full-time. The work schedule is 7:30am – 5 pm (flexibility is required to occasionally work later on special projects.)
